The Desire Map & My Core Desired Feelings
Danielle shares her philosophy in a empowering and zen voice. The book is about choosing how you want to feel and then setting intentions for the year based on those feelings. These feelings are referred to as your “Core Desired Feelings”. “Goals with soul.” The book is part life philosophy and part workbook to help you pick your core desired feelings that will guide you for the next quarter, year or rest of your life.
The workbook is intensive but rewarding. If you are a word junkie and emotional powerhouse like me, the process of picking your core desired feelings may take some time and effort. I wrote synonyms and definitions for about 50 different words that I was interested in “feeling”. Danielle suggests you narrow down your core desired feelings to three to five words. I spent about two weeks testing out different feelings and finally made a decision. I have talked to several friends who chose their feelings in about 30 minutes. So it’s a very personal experience. I enjoyed the time I spent on the process, regardless.
I love Danielle’s philosophy that your goals should be guided by how your ideal feelings. The core desired feelings are meant to be revisited and changed to fit your needs as your life changes and expands. I enjoy books that require “homework” and this one delivers. The printed book has space to write answers to the questions Danielle poses to help you define your core desired feelings. The vibe of the book is empowering and personal – it’s all about finding what’s best for you. That’s meaningful.
